What is a Tiffin? Introducing the To-go Container you Didn't Know you Needed

A tiffin is a kind of lunch box that originated in India, and is also widely used throughout Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. If you've never heard of this nifty food storage system before, you're in for a treat - and maybe a new way to store & carry your treats, too!

Our Tiffins are made from food-grade, non-leaching Stainless Steel. They are BPA and Phthalate-free, and dishwasher & oven safe.

They come in 3-Tier or 2-Tier options, or smaller Sidekicks which are perfect for snacks! With the 2 and 3-Tier Tiffins, you can choose how many of the separated containers you want to use at a time - they all stack up and latch onto one another. And, the tiffin lid also doubles as a plate!

Use tiffins to pack meals or snacks to take with you on the go, or to use as carry-out containers to take leftover food home from restaurants (if the restaurant will allow). You can separate your food into isolated compartments to keep it fresh and ready to go.

The Sidekicks are great for taking snacks on the go, but they also make excellent at-home storage containers for spices, coffee, and tea.

A Tiffin is a good choice for the environment, AND for your health! Here's why:

When you use a reusable tiffin, you're not only saving on brown lunch bags, but you're also eliminating the need for plastic baggies, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, and other forms of single-use food storage. Reduce your footprint by ditching those plastic bags and other food containers which pollute our planet!

Besides being harmful to the planet, plastic food containers can also be harmful to our health. Plastic containers leach harmful chemicals, like BPA, into our food, especially when they are heated up, or when you put hot food into one. The chemicals then get into our systems when we eat the food that was in the container.

BPA is a chemical that is added to plastics which is said to mimic the structure and function of the hormone estrogen. BPA can bind to estrogen receptors and influence bodily processes, such as growth, cell repair, fetal development, energy levels, and reproduction. Our body is sensitive to changes in hormone levels, which is why we worry about the influence of BPA in our bodies.

These days, it's fairly easy to find plenty of BPA-free products, but that still doesn't mean that all plastic containers are necessarily safe for our frequent use. A recent study has found that MOST plastics still release hormone-like chemicals, even the ones that are BPA-free.

By switching to alternative food containers made from glass or food-grade Stainless Steel, like our Tiffins, you can really reduce you and your family's exposure to these potentially harmful chemicals.

In addition, unlike plastic food containers, the stainless steel tiffin will not stain, retain smells, or wear out with time. They are durable and reusable over and over again for years!
